Information, FAQs & Helpful Hints |
Q: How can I use the Flip 'n Pick to help my child in school? |
A: Just create one-sided flash cards (homemade or using your computer). Put the equation, question or problem on one card and the answer/solution on another. Then, take all of the equation/question/problem cards and place them in the top sleeves. After, take all of the solution cards and insert them into the bottom sleeves. Your child can then Flip 'n Pick the correct combinations! |
Helpful Hint: |
If your child is old enough, have them make the flash cards themselves. If not, be certain to have your child help you make them. Involving them offers extra practice and gives them a sense of ownership if they've directly participated in the process. |

Q: I am an Occupational Therapist. How can I help my patients using the Flip 'n Pick? |
A: Create one-sided flash cards with any subject matter that applies to your patients. For example, make up flash cards that have pictures of people exhibiting a particular emotion on one side. On one side of separate flash cards, have the appropriate emotional or social response written out. Here is a sample you are welcome to use as is or as a template to create customized cards: Emotions |
Helpful Hint: |
You'll notice that Flip 'nsleeves are double sided. The second portion is the perfect place to insert rewards, notes (i.e.: 'Parent, please work on this flash card with Mary.'), coupons, reminders, related homework, suggested reading, etc. |

Q: I have sooooo many clip and keep recipes, I find it overwhelming to begin sorting through them. But, I want so much to put them to better use. Any advice?? |
A: Ah, yes! A subject near and dear. All those delicious recipes we're conviced we'll use some day... Simply make broad catagories. For example, Appetizers, Cocktails, Soups, Salads, Sandwiches, Main Dishes, Sides Dishes, Desserts, After Dinner Drinks. Then toss the recipe that coincides with the category into that pile. Don't waste your time alphabetizing, micro-managing or sorting them any further. That's the great thing about Flip 'n Pick...it doesn't matter the order! No more "chicken", "pork", "beef" (then "ground beef", "steak", "roast"...etc.)! If it's a main dish, it doesn't matter what form it's in or what's in it! Just put it in the main dish pile - it's that simple! Once you've got your piles, put the recipes into the Flip 'nsleeves making certain to keep them in the categories you've established. Now take the recipes and place them into the Flip 'n Pick. Place one category in the top set of rings and another category into the bottom set. For example, put all your main dish recipes in the top set of (continued...) |
Helpful Hint: |
What if you have hundreds of main dishes? All of them don't have to go into your Flip 'n Pick at the same time. Treat them like a deck of cards, keeping extra 'decks' in reserve. From time to time, shuffle decks with each other, swapping out used recipes with un-used recipes. Now you have new combinations and all you had to do was mix the cards up a bit! With Flip 'n Pick, the possibilities are almost endless!!! |
